OASIS BOOM

Supported by: La Fraternelle - Maison du Peuple

From the White Stripes to the Black Keys, the drum/guitar duo is to rock what the piano/bass/drum trio is to jazz: a classic format. But reducing Oasis Boom’s music to a single aesthetic would be a mistake.

Inside the “car radio of the cactus bus”—the name of the single extended piece they perform live—you’ll find greasy rock, yes, but also surf music, drone, lullabies, and club rhythms. The machine rolls on at breakneck speed, transforming, soaring, teleporting. It’s direct and relentless. Through windows stained with red dust, we glimpse the hallucinatory vistas of Piton de la Fournaise, the languid bends of the Niger River, and the dry immensity of Arizona.

When it’s over, Melissa Acchiardi and Vincent Duchosal step down in silence, hands blackened by electricity, eyes still filled with melting horizons—and we realize that the journey hasn’t really ended. It never does.
